A guy walked past me, but quickly turned back with a big smile and said, “Hi!” I smiled and said, “Hello!” In broken English, he asked, “Where are you from?” Based on his approach, I assumed he was just going to ask me for directions. I usually have my guard up in Vietnam as 99% of the time a stranger approaches me it’s to ask for money or a selfie, but because the guy approached me as if I was an afterthought it made me feel less like a target.
