I was down. Today I regained my momentum. Here are 12 tips I followed to boost my motivation & happiness:
1) DRINK CAFFEINE
I only drink coffee if I'm about to do work so I've conditioned my mind and body to get focused once I sit with a cup of joe.
2) CREATE HABIT CHALLENGE(S)
Create a 10 or 30 day challenge. Commit to doing it everyday. The challenge should be something that gives you a little forward momentum everyday.
3) CREATE GOAL CHALLENGE(S)
Set your eyes on an inspiring goal. This will shift your focus away from your current situation and help you cast your gaze upon what's possible.
4) CREATE LIST OF TODOS
Breakdown your goal into action-steps. Actions speaker louder than words. Plan all the steps you think you'll need to take. Do some research.
5) COMPLETE 6 TODOS TODAY
Focus on completing 6 of those todos today! No more & no less. This will help get the ball rolling. "Progress = Happiness".
7) TALK TO A FRIEND
8) INTERNALIZE "LOCUS OF CONTROL"
This is BIG. I've been putting too much weight on things beyond my control, like how many likes & subscribers I get. I'll put my focus back on the things I can control: work ethic, character, & good habits.
I also realized that part of my sadness came from fear. Fear that everything I did would be a failure. But I decided to really sit with that and explore what that meant. If everything fails is that really so bad?
Well for one the greatest failure would be quitting. That won't happen. So the next worst failure would be running out of money and having to take a job I hate.
But even this wouldn't be so bad. I'd have a greater sense of security. My tastes are simple so I wouldn't need much money though and I won't let myself run out of money. I'll take a job I at least somewhat-like before I'm desperate. And I'll be happy so long as that job offers me some flexibility to work on my projects.
