THU JUNE, 23
NEW ORLEANS, LA
10am: Woke Up, India House Hostel
11am: Walked to Starbucks
12pm - 5pm: Did Work
I love writing for this blog. It's the first thing I do when I sit down to work. I'm confident this blog will be HUUUGE, but right now I'm disappointed in the quiet response.
I just hope a few friends and family look forward to each new post because that inspires me to keep sharing. My hope is to make you smile, chuckle, learn, and/or feel inspired. If I make you feel any of those things then I succeeded that day.
But overall I shouldn't let external validation determine my happiness.
5:30pm - 7pm: Ate at Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen
7:30pm - 11am: Drank at the India House Hostel
As soon as I walked through the door a guy yelled out, "free beer" and "flip cup"! I thought, "Fuck it! I guess I'm starting early tonight."
For the record, the guys won every "flip cup" game. We then played "slap cup", which the same girl lost every time. We then played "beer pong", and when it was down to the final cup I turned to say to my fellow american and teammate, "The eyes of the nation are upon you."
As his ball gracefully drifted through the air, America held its breath, then splash! We had won! From there we continued to dominate this pseudo beer olympics against the Aussies, English, French, Irish, and Costa Ricans. Foreigners can drink, but suck at drinking games.
12am - 3:30am: Drank in French Quarter
It felt like the whole hostel went DT together, which was nice. There was like 30 of us, but we immediately broke off into two groups. I hung out with the "hostel workers". They are a well traveled herd. We went to the oldest bar in New Orleans where Andrew Jackson use to go during the War of 1812 to solicit pirates.
I drank a lot of beer and Malibu liquor, but felt good this time because I ended the night by drinking a lot of water and eating a meaty slice of pizza on the stoop of a New Orleans alleyway.
